2008 Salute to Education Scholarship Contest Rules

- No purchase is necessary to enter the contest.
- One entry per person. Applications are available at all Al's Formal Wear locations.
- Two (2) $2,500 College Scholarships will be awarded. They shall be made payable to the accredited college, university or other institution of higher learning as designated by the winners, in care of the individual winner, and are intended for use during the 2008/2009 school year. The scholarships are not assignable or transferable and there shall be no changes or substitutions.
- All entries must be original, unpublished work.
- Your essay must be typed, not handwritten, in the English language.
- Decisions of the judges are final.
- The author retains all copyrights and ownership of their essay.
- All entries become the property of Formal Specialists, Ltd.
- The odds of winning depend on the total number of entries received at the conclusion of the contest.
- The contest begins on September 28, 2007 and ends on May 5, 2008. Entries must be postmarked by May 5, 2008 to be accepted.
- To be eligible to win, participants must be at least 17 years of age and must be registered and currently attending an accredited high school in Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas.
- The contest to determine the winners will be held at the executive corporate offices of Formal Specialists, Ltd., 7807 Main Street, Houston, Texas, 77030 on or before July 31, 2008.
- The winners are fully responsible for all applicable federal, state and local taxes, licensing and any other fees.
- All employees, officers, directors and/or any relatives of any employee, officer or director of Al's Formal Wear and Formal Specialists, Ltd. and any related entities are not eligible to enter.
- THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES WHICH EXTEND BEYOND THE DESCRIPTION ON THE FACE HEREOF. Further, Formal Specialists, Ltd. makes no express or implied representations about the contest and/or the scholarships and shall award the scholarships "AS IS", "WITH ALL FAULTS" AND WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES AND/OR GUARANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, NO WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NO WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY.
- The winners need not be present to win. Within one (1) week after the judging, Formal Specialists, Ltd. will make all reasonable attempts to notify the winners in writing. If either of the two (2) winners cannot be contacted after reasonable attempts or fail to claim the scholarship within thirty (30) days of the drawing date, another winner will be selected in their place, at a later date to be determined, which will also be held at the executive corporate offices of Formal Specialists, Ltd., 7807 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77030. Formal Specialists, Ltd. is not responsible for illegible or erroneous information written on any entry form. Sponsor reserves the right to interpret these rules and to make decisions concerning the award, acceptance and use of scholarships in situations not covered by these rules.
- This offer is void where prohibited by law.
- Before the scholarships are awarded, each winner must sign a full and complete release and indemnity enabling Formal Specialists, Ltd. and/or any of its related entities to reprint, distribute and/or use the winner's name, picture and/or likeness in any press releases, advertisements, promotions and promotional materials without any recourse against such entities and each winner agrees to hold such entities harmless for such use.
